The SR4 project consisted of providing multiple roadbed dig outs that spanned a 25 mile long stretch of the state highway along the Columbia River. The project was necessary in order to stabilize the existing road bed prior to the finish overlay paving. During the course of the project we encountered two locations where the shoulder of the road was eroded away completely due to the wave action from the Columbia River. MEI Group reconstructed these areas utilizing geo-grid stabilization and 700 Class Rip Rap along the slope to prevent future erosion along the highway’s embankment.
